Punch Taverns are one of the UK’s leading pub companies with a portfolio of over 1,300 sites nationwide.
Based in Burton upon Trent in the Midlands, Punch Taverns decided to make the change from another supply chain compliance provider, to Altius, after seeing the benefit of working with us.
Punch’s previous arrangements involved outsourcing their health and safety assessments to another provider, but carrying out insurance and other commercial checks in-house. This led to a number of issues, including joining up the two assessments, getting the outsourced assessments done on time, and being able to carry out the kind of detailed insurance checks, including checking specific exclusions, that Altius now does.
After holding meetings with Punch to identify the requirements needed to approve contractors and consultants, Altius co-ordinated a programme of communication with over 350 suppliers stating the deadlines required to join the new system.
Using our unique assessment process, suppliers were asked to submit a questionnaire that allowed us to complete a gap analysis. Suppliers then responded to the queries and resubmitted their questionnaire.
By the time the deadline arrived, over 75% of suppliers had gone through the process and been approved – a figure which rose to 90% over the following months.
